The Walking Dead Season 4 Episode 3: Isolation

Glenn and Maggie are digging graves.  You see Patrick's glasses on his grave.  Dr. S is listening for the heartbeat of a man with one arm.  The man is dead.  Dr. S pulls out a knife.

Tyreese shows Rick, Daryl, and Carol the bodies of Karen and Dave.  He is upset.  Daryl tries to soothe him but Tyreese doesn't want to hear it.  He attacks Daryl but Daryl keeps his cool.  Rick mentions they have all lost someone and he needs to calm down.  Tyreese punches Rick twice.  Daryl holds Tyreese back and Rick begins to punch Tyreese and keeps punching him.  Daryl has to pull Rick off of Tyreese.  Rick lost his mind for a minute there and he knows it.

Hershel is cleaning Rick's hand and tells him it is sprained.  He asks if Rick is okay, not asking about his hand but his mental state.  Everything they tried so hard to keep out made its way back in.  Rick says it was always there.  Rick looks at his gun with regret.  Hershel says that when he fell off the wagon he would pick himself up because he had responsibilities.  Rick losing his mind for the moment is like falling off the wagon. Tyreese is digging a grave very violently.  Bob tries to convince him to have a doctor look at his injuries but Tyreese won't stop until they are all buried.

Glenn is talking to Hershel and tells him that he thinks everything will be okay.  He says that with walkers or other people (that pose a threat) he knows what to do, he fights.  But with a virus all that he can do is dig graves.  Sasha comes out to where they are and starts coughing.  She keeps Hershel away and says she is going to see Dr. S and that she will be okay.  Sasha calls out to Dr. S in the prison.  We hear people coughing.  A woman is coughing up blood.  One patient is already a zombie.  Dr. S is sick too.  He says it is starting.

Council meeting.  Everyone that was in cell block D is sick.  It seems like Glenn is getting sick.  Hershel says they need antibiotics.  He suggests a veterinary college that might not have been raided.  Michonne volunteers to go but Hershel mentions she was not exposed and should not be around those who were.  Hershel volunteers to go but Daryl mentions that on every trip they always end up having to run at some point.  Hershel gets the hint and says he will draw them a map.  Hershel suggests separating the most vulnerable (children) from those infected.

Carol and Rick are trying to fix a water pump.  Carol wants to fix it before they do anything else because there aren't many survivors left.  Carol mentions that Carl is part of the group that has been isolated for being vulnerable.  She suggests Rick talk to Tyreese.  Rick apologizes to Tyreese.  Tyreese says it's on both of them.  Tyreese says Rick has to find out who did this.  Rick asks if anyone had a problem with Dave or Karen.  Tyreese says no.  Rick suggests whoever did this was trying to stop the spread of the  disease.  Tyreese says they didn't succeed.  Rick says that the killer isn't going anywhere.  Tyreese says that he sees that murder is seen as alright by those in the prison. Tyreese is being irrational here.  They have to deal with the spread of the new virus before they can deal with any crime.  Come on, it's the zombie apocalypse, people die every day.  Priorities please.

Carl grabs a picture of his family pre-apocalypse.  Rick says he wants Carl to keep an eye on Judith and keep her safe.   Carl says what if someone gets sick and dies they might turn.  Rick tells him not to fire unless he needs to.  Carl says he might have to shoot them.  Rick doesn't seem happy with the situation but says nothing else.  Glenn is sick.  He is muttering to himself that it's going to be okay.  He tells Maggie not to come into their room.

Daryl is fixing a car engine for their trip.  He tells Michonne he's glad she's here.  He thought she might be running off.  She says she is not running off.  She wants to know who else is coming.  Bob is coming but Daryl would like at least one other person. Daryl finds Tyreese.  He says they will put a bullet in whoever is responsible.  Tyreese wants to stand guard because Sasha is in there.  Daryl tells them where they will be in case he changes his mind.

Hershel is walking through the halls of the prison when Carl sees him and asks where Hershel is going.  Hershel tells him to keep his distance.  Hershel is going to the woods.  Carl says he can't let him go by himself.  Carl says he won't stop him but he will tell Rick.  Carl says he has to go with Hershel.  Carl thinks that he is apparently in charge of the prison for the moment.  Rick wants him to watch over the other kids not tell council members what they can or cannot do.  It seems giving him back his gun has brought back some of that cockiness.  He could get dangerous again very quickly.

So many people are sick.  Carol is herding people into the quarantine (cell block A).  A woman named Janette says it is just allergies but Carol makes her go in anyway.  Lizzie tells Carol she doesn't feel well.  Carol gives her a hug and tells her to go in and lie down.  Lizzie asks if Carol will tuck her in.  Carol opens the door and ushers her in and then closes the door behind her.  Carol walks away crying.

Maggie is talking to Beth through a door.  Maggie tells her that Glenn is sick.  Beth tells her there is no need to be upset.  People are going for medicine and she just needs to focus on what they have to do.  They will deal with whatever happens.  They have to, they don't have a choice.

Hershel is picking plants and asks when Carl got his gun back.  He tells Carl that he has become more responsible.  Hershel says he would have been fine on his own and that they would be safer outside of the prison.  Carl says no they would not.  We see a tent and then a half decomposed zombie.  The zombie reaches her hand out to them.  Another female zombie (this one with a trap on her leg) walks over to them.  Carl is going to shoot her but Hershel says he doesn't need to.  Neither zombie poses an imminent threat to them.  Hershel says it is so peaceful out in the woods.  Carl says it was.

Tyreese and Sasha are talking through a window.  She says it is not as bad as it looks.  She is sorry about Karen.  He tells her to be positive.  Positive vibes.  He tells her about the group going to get medicine.  She says they could have medicine as early as tomorrow and seems to brighten at the idea.

Daryl says they are taking Zach's car.  Bob asks if he wants him coming along.  Daryl pulls out a piece of paper and asks Bob to read medical term on the list.  Bob does and Daryl says he wants him to go with them (remember that Bob is a former Army medic).  Tyreese volunteers to go with them.  Carol is trying to get water from some large plastic bins but they are both empty.  Tyreese kind of sneaks up on her.  He tells her he knows she cares and asks her to look in on Sasha.  She says she would be happy to and gives her condolences for Karen.  She angrily throws the bucket away.  She pushes the water bin and water pours out of it.  She realizes what she's done and picks it up then sits down crying.

Maggie is yelling at Hershel for not being with the unexposed group but purposely exposing himself to the virus by helping the sick.  Hershel says he is going to make some elderberry tea because he can help.  This time he can change what is happening to them.  He wants to control their symptoms.  He says you risk your life in every moment and the only thing that matters is what you are risking it for.  So he is going to risk his life to help the sick.  Maggie doesn't respond but she opens the door for him.

Beth tells Maggie that Hershel left.  Maggie asks if she knows where he went.
She says he didn't say but she knows where he is because Dr. S is sick and they all have jobs to do.  They don't get to get upset (as she is crying).

Rick is investigating the spot where Karen and Dave were burned.  He looks at the door and notices a partial bloody hand print.  The sheriff is back to investigating crimes.

Carol is outside fixing the hose they use to pump water into the prison.  Zombies are milling near her.  Rick walks outside with a bucket and sees Carol is outside of the fence.  Zombies hear her making noise and move towards her.  Rick notices and starts running towards her.  He tells her to run.  She keeps cussing but doesn't move she is still trying to fix the hose.  Eventually she moves.  She kicks a zombie  and stabs another.  Rick begins shooting at zombies.  They make their way back in.  He is upset because they had agreed to fix the hose tomorrow.

Daryl in the car tells Michonne that he knows she is not running off but the trail went cold if not he would be with her.  He turns on the radio and asks Michonne for a CD.
They hear a voice over the radio.  It says "sancutary . . . determined to survive . . . keep alive."They are so distracted that they hit a few zombies on the road.  Daryl stops the car and zombies begin to surrounding it.  As the car pulls back we see it is a giant herd of hundreds or thousands of zombies.  He reverses but the wheels are stuck on the dead bodies he ran over.  They decide to abandon the car and make their way towards the woods.  Daryl and Michonne are kicking zombie butt.  Bob is shooting up a storm but Tyreese just stays in the car.  Bob keeps calling out to him.  Tyreese finally gets out and start chopping at zombies but he is surrounded. The others make their way into the woods.  They kill zombies as they go deeper into the woods.  Daryl tells them to hold up.  Something is moving in the trees.  Zombies start coming out but Tyreese kills one of them.  Tyreese seems physically unharmed.  They grab Tyreese and go.

Hershel makes Dr. S drink some of the tea he made.  Dr. S tells him he shouldn't be in there.  He coughs up blood all over Hershel.  Hershel takes the cloth off his face and wipes away the blood.  He tells Dr. S that if Dr. S wasn't there already he would still have ended up there helping the sick.  Hershel is giving Glenn some tea.  Glenn says the situation sucks.  That after everything he has survived he is going to be taken out by a glorified cold.  Hershel tells him not to say things like that.  They all have jobs here (this echoes what Beth told Maggie earlier).

Carol is carrying buckets of water to the prison.
Rick tells her it was stupid of her to be out there like that.  She admits it was stupid.  He says she does a lot for them.  For the kids.  She sacrifices a lot.  Is there anything she wouldn't do for them?  She says no.  He asks if she killed Karen and David.  She says yes (I knew it!).  She walks away.

Final Thoughts
- Is sociopath Carl rearing his ugly head again?  He talked back to Hershel twice in this episode.  Does he need his hat to make the final transformation?
- How useful will Tyreese continue to be if he is out for revenge against the person who killed Karen?
- Were Karen and David dead before Carol burned them?  Or did she burn them alive?
- Did Carol have the right to make the decision to kill Karen and David without discussing it with the council?  It's obvious that she did it to try to stop the spread of the new virus but she failed.  This is not the first thing she has done for the good of the group in secret.  Remember that she was teaching the kids zombie fighting skills.
- What will Rick do with the knowledge that Carol is responsible for those two deaths?  He promised Tyreese that justice would be done.
- How will Daryl and the others react when they find out Carol is responsible for the burned bodies?  That is if Rick decides to tell anyone.
- I re-watched this episode and found it interesting watching Carol's reaction throughout the episode when you know she is responsible for the death of Karen and David.  Now we know why she was so upset when Tyreese asked her to look in on Sasha.  He went on and on about how much she cares about everyone.
- Did it seem like Michonne and Daryl were a little flirty?

The Walking Dead Season 4 Episode 2: Infected

Nighttime at the prison.  Someone is shining a flashlight on the zombies at the fence and feeding them with rats.  This must be why so many zombies are at the fence in the morning.  Tyreese and Karen are making out in the library and then she brings up Zach.  Talk about a mood killer.  Tyreese talks about how there are very few people in their lives.  Then he starts singing "I've got you under my skin."  I'm thinking Karen might be the next to die.  He wants to sleep with her but she says not yet.  Karen is walking in the bathroom filling up a sink with water, she hears a noise and turns around.  Is it Patrick?  Her flashlight goes out, of course.  She makes her way out of the bathroom just as Patrick gets up from the floor.  She enters cell block D.  That must stand for death since Patrick is making his way in now.  He is about to go into Karen's room when he hears someone snoring and he chomps down on that guy's neck instead (for now).  The man is unable to scream and the rest of the cell block is unaware that a zombie is inside.

Patrick is really digging into his first victim's chest.  Rick is up with Judith and turns off an alarm clock.  He wakes Carl up.  Patrick hears other people coughing.  He leaves the room and the dead guy is now a zombie and moving.  His guts fall off as he stands up.  Zombies are milling by the fence.  Glenn and Maggie are up at a watch tower.  Maggie is asleep and Glenn grabs a camera and takes a picture of her.  The noise wakes her up.  It's her turn to keep watch and he promises to bring her breakfast.  Rick and Carl are outside and see Michonne on her way out.  She asks for any requests for things to bring back.  She asks Carl why he never wears his hat.  His reply is that the hat is not a farmer's hat.  The zombies are pushing on a fence and it is leaning forward.  Carl wants to kill the zombies at the fence but Rick says they have other plans.  As they are feeding the pigs Carl apologizes.  He says he has been trying and wants to know when he can have his gun back.  It seems that it's not just Rick that has been working on their relationship.  Carl is trying to be a better son.  The question is how much of this is he doing because he wants to change versus how much is Rick forcing him to do.  Rick took his gun away, is making him do farm work, and won't let him even kill zombies through the fence using a sharp stick.

The sound of gunshots come from the prison.  Rick and Michonne head back.  Glenn shouts that there are walkers in D.  Daryl, Rick, and the others arrive at cell block D.  Daryl saves a little boy and the killing of zombies begin.  Rick is handed a gun but he gives it to someone else.  Karen and Tyreese meet up.  Carol goes to amputate the arm of a man that has been bitten but sees that the back of his neck has also been bitten.  Daryl shoots Patrick with an arrow.  Each cell is being inspected.  Rick pulls out his knife and enters one of the cells.  He looks shell shocked when he comes back out.  The man Carol is with, Ryan, realizes that he is going to turn into a zombie.  He asks Carol to look after his kids as if they were her own.  Rick finds a zombie in a closed cell who is also bleeding from the eyes and kills him.  They discuss the new disease.  Some dude that sounds like a doctor is discussing the symptoms.  I guess the dead guy sleep walked and would lock himself in.  Rick mentions Violet the pig and how she was sick and died.  Hershel suggest they kill all of the pigs.  He mentions that they were all exposed to the new virus.  Carol brings in Ryan's two daughters (Lizzie and Mika) so they can say goodbye.  He tells Lizzie to take care of her younger sister.  Carol ushers them out and tells them she is going to do what has to be done.  Lizzie says they should be the ones.  Mika can't do it.  Carol gives Lizzie the knife but she can't do it either.  Carol does it instead.

Carl lets Michonne back in but some zombies follow her in.  But Michonne is injured.  Zombies start coming toward the prison and pushing on the fence.  Carl grabs a gun from somewhere and shoots one of the zombies and Maggie runs out and shoots the other one.  Carl runs to Rick and hugs him crying.  He apologizes for using a gun to help Michonne.  Maggie asks what happened.  Rick tells them that Patrick was sick, died, and attacked the cell block.  Rick tells them to avoid contact with those that might have been exposed.  The council (Carol, Daryl, Sasha, Glenn, and Hershel) discuss separating those that were exposed.  What to do with them?  Glenn suggest moving them to cell block A.  Karen is coughing and the council won't let Tyreese take her back to his cell.  Glenn says they think it is the flu.  They don't want her in the same cell block as baby Judith.  She mentions that David from another cell block is also sick.  Glenn goes to fetch him.  Daryl goes to bury the dead.  Hershel tells him to wear gloves and a mask.  Daryl and Carol ask each other if they are okay.  Carol is worried about the little girls that were near Patrick the previous day.  Daryl says he has to be okay.  They don't really have the option to be anything other than accepting of their circumstances in a zombiepocalypse.

More zombies have accumulated at the fence.  Carol talks to the two girls telling them that they are going to bury their dad.  She wants to discuss what happened.  She tells Lizzie that she is weak and she lost her nerve and that is dangerous.  Lizzie gets upset that they killed Nick the zombie from the last episode.  Mika says that her sister is messed up and not weak.

Rick approaches Daryl who is digging graves.  Daryl says that Rick earned his time off.  Rick is worried about taking a leading role after all the bad decisions he made.  Maggie yells for Rick and Daryl.  The fence is staring to fall down because of the amount of zombies.  They start killing zombies through the fence.  Rick is back in the zone.  No more hesitation in killing zombies.  Beth is wrapping Michonne's ankle.  She thinks it is stupid for Maggie and Carl to have helped her because they could have gotten hurt.  Beth replies that feeling hurt comes with the territory of caring for people. Beth wonders why nobody came up with a name for someone who has lost a child.  There are widows and orphans but no name for parents who've lost children.   Judith begins to cry and it seems to affect Michonne.  I think she might have lost a child.  Back at the fence, Maggie trips but keeps Glenn away (he was exposed to the virus while she was not).  Sasha finds the rats.  The fence begins to fall.  The group rushes to keep it up but it looks like a lost cause.

They move back as the fence starts to bend.  Rick tells Daryl to get the truck, he knows what to do.  Carl is building a cross for Patrick's grave but Carol tells him Patrick was an atheist.  She asks if Carl told Rick about the knife lesson.  He says no and asks if she got permission from the parents.  She says it is a secret between the two of them.  Beth begins to sing.  Surprise, surprise.  Michonne is working out despite her injury.  Judith spits up and Beth asks Michonne to take her.  At fist she says no but then agrees.  She begins to hold her awkwardly but then starts crying and cradles Judith.  I'm pretty sure Michonne lost a baby.  Daryl and Rick go out of the prison with the truck and a box of pigs.  Zombies start coming towards them and Rick cuts a pig and throws it at the zombies.  They being to eat it.  They drive a little farther and he does the same with another pig.   They continue doing this to lead the zombies away.  Rick does not look happy about it.  Glenn and Sasha repair the fence.

The little girls are back at the fence.  Carol tells them that they are walkers and that she doesn't feel bad about the walker Nick dieing but about her dad dieing.  Carol pulls out her knife and cuts some flowers and puts them in Lizzie's hair.  Lizzie takes the knife from Carol.  Rick is pulling apart the pig pen.  Rick tells Carl that they should stay away from Judith for awhile.
Carl tells Rick about Carol's lessons and that the parents don't know.  Carl says that Rick should let her.  Rick thanks Carl for telling him.  Rick says that he won't stop Carol or say anything to the parents then he sets fire to the pig pen.  Rick gives Carl his gun back.  Rick puts on his holster and puts his own gun in it.  The "break"  that Daryl spoke about it over.  Rick throws his own shirt in the fire.  It was covered with possibly infected pig blood.  Tyreese is carrying flowers to Karen's cell and sees blood.  He follows the trail of blood that leads outside.  Two bodies are burning outside.  One of them is Karen.  Someone killed them.

Final Thoughts
-Who is feeding the zombies?  It could be Lizzy who at the beginning of the episode still saw them as people.  Or some as-yet-to-be-introduced teenage boy.  Because lets face it.  That totally seems like something a teenage boy would do.
-Why isn't clearing the fences part of people's assigned job at the prison?
-Rick is coated in pig's blood and if that is how the infection begins he could definitely get sick.  Of course, we don't know the gestation period of the disease.  They could have all been infected weeks ago.  If it is air borne they could all be sick.  Or, if it is a mutation of the original virus they could all have the potential of getting sick.
-The last pig that Rick killed looked so sad.  You could almost see it looking up at Rick saying, "Why, Rick, why?"  Tear.
-Is Rick ready to be back and help make decisions?  Daryl believes in him but Rick needs to believe in himself or else he will doubt every decision he makes.  The pig truck idea was good and successful that should hopefully help Rick come back.
-Now that Carl has his gun back will we see a return of his hat?
-I think it was either Sasha or Carol that killed and burned Karen and David.

The Walking Dead Season 4 Episode 1: 30 Days Without An Accident

The scene opens on the prison yard.  There are plants in pots all around.  Rick walks to a barrel of water and splashes his face.  The camera scans the yard and we see food has been planted and they have a horse in a choral.  What a difference a few months make (according to the showrunner Scott M. Gimple 6 to 7 months have passed since the season 3 finale).  Rick is working in the field pulling up plants while zombies outside of the fence watch him.  He finds a gun buried underground.  He throws it into a wheelbarrow, which I think is a waste.  He could at least save the bullets.  The camera zooms in on a zombie whose eyes are bleeding.  Rick ignores the zombies and goes back to hoeing.

Carl complains that Rick didn't wake him up.  Rick says he let him sleep in because he knew Carl was up all night reading comic books.  This is quite a change for Carl who last season was more of a soldier than a child.  They walk over to a pig pen.  One of the pigs is sick.  Carl named her Violet but Rick warns him not to name the pig  because she is food.

Everyone is saying hi to Daryl.  He's like the rock star of the prison.  Carol reminds him that she liked him first.  Some kid named Patrick thanks Daryl for bringing back a deer and wants to shake his hand.  Zombies are pushing against the fence.  Several people are stabbing them through the fence. More zombies keep coming.  Carol and Daryl discuss the amount of zombies showing up each morning at the fence.  The situation is manageable, for now.  Carol calls Daryl pookie. Is love finally in the air for these two?

Glenn and Maggie are in bed together.  He tells her he doesn't think she should go today.  She says they have the suits and that everything is going to work out.  But he says she is staying and she agrees to stay behind.  Tyreese pulls a woman aside and tells her that he doesn't like killing zombies along the fence so he is going on a run.  He only did it to meet her.  They kiss.

Beth has a boyfriend.  It's Cassidy/Beaver from Veronica Mars!  But we'll just call him Zach.  Apparently everyone has been hooking up since the Governor left.  He tells her that he's going on the run.  They kiss but she refuses to say goodbye to him.  Daryl is watching them and calls it a "Damn romance novel."  A new guy named Bob wants to go on a run but he's only been there for a week.  He was a medic in the army and found by himself.  They agree to let him go with them.

Hershel has a snazzy new prosthetic leg.  Looking good, Santa.  Michonne is rides up to the prison on a horse.  They have pikes set up by the new gate so zombies won't get in.
It looks like they took a few lessons from Morgan.  Michonne brought back some comic books for Carl and a razor for Rick.  Are they in a relationship?  She tells Daryl she didn't find him.  The Governor perhaps?  Michonne volunteers to go check on some snares before the walkers get to them.  Carl has chores and Rick wants him to read comic books and go to story time.   Be a kid.  Hershel tells Rick needs that soon they won't need to go on runs because they are growing their own food.

Hershel mentions that the prison group has a council.  This council is made up of Daryl, Glenn, Maggie, Sasha, and Hershel.  It looks like they are establishing some order and a government for this group without a dictator and more importantly without Rick.  I think this is great.  Rick needs a break from being a leader and a group can discuss how to deal with a situation taking different points of view into account.  Hershel tells Rick that he needs to take his gun when he goes outside.  Rick says six bullets won't help if he gets mobbed by zombies, but he reluctantly agrees to take the gun.

Kids are taunting the zombies and naming them.  Carl tells them they are not people anymore.  They are not pets.  Don't name them.  Patrick is with Carl.  Patrick refers to Carl as sir even though Patrick is around the same age as Carl.  Proof that even though Carl might be trying to act like a kid again he hasn't been a kid in a long time.

The group that went out on the run show up to a Big Spot (like Big Lots but not infringing copyright laws)  parking lot surrounded by a chain link fence.  We learn that the army set up this place.   Zach has been trying to figure out what Daryl did before the zombiepocalypse.  His guess is that Daryl was a homicide cop.  Daryl says he was an undercover cop.  Sasha seems to be in charge of the mission.  I wonder if we will get a back story on how the council came to be and how Sasha ended up on it.  There is a crashed helicopter on the roof with a lot of zombies milling around.

Glenn is looking at baby stuff.  Is Maggie pregnant?  Bob is going past the liquor and nodding his head.  Was he an alcoholic?  He grabs a bottle and is going to put it under his coat but puts it back on the shelf instead.  The entire shelf breaks and falls on him and the zombies on the roof hear it.  The zombies walking on the roof are starting to fall through the roof.
Glenn suggests they leave.  They need to free Bob first.  More and more zombies keep falling.  Zombies start attacking everyone.  Glenn is wearing a police riot gear trying to fight off two zombies.  Everyone is fighting them off but there are so many of them and they just keep falling out of the sky.  Bob is still stuck under the cabinet and a zombie is coming for him. Daryl and Zach rescue Bob but Zach gets eaten by a zombie.  So long Zach.  We hardly knew ye.  The helicopter falls through the roof.

Rick is collecting dead animals from the snares.  He stumbles upon a dieing animal and a zombie goes up to it.  At first he thinks it is a zombie but she speaks to him.  She looks half dead.  She asks for Rick to help her.  She wants help carrying the animal to her husband because they haven't eaten in days.  Rick gives her something wrapped in foil.   Food I am assuming.  She asks if they have a camp nearby he says yes.  She asks if they can go back with him they haven't been doing well on their own.  He wants to meet her husband and ask them some questions when they get there.  She is unarmed but Rick wants to make sure.   He takes her knife.  He warns her that if she tries anything she will lose.  She responds that she doesn't have anything else to lose.  He says she does and gives her back her knife.  She leads him into the woods.  The woman is telling Rick they were trying to go to Puerto Vallarta for their honeymoon but they closed the airport.  On the fourth night the zombies came through.  Now it's just Eddy and her.  She wouldn't have made it if it weren't for him.  He saved her and showed her what she needed to to do survive.
What were the things they needed to do?  She says they had to kill things, eat animal carcasses, leaving people behind and hiding from people that needed her help.  He says people are the best defense against walkers.  Rick has had quite a change of heart from last season on letting others into the group.  It looks like it has proven useful.  Rick is talking about the sculptures at the airport.  Is he checking out her story?  She asks if he did terrible things to survive like she did.  She then asks if you get to come back from that.  Rick says he hopes so.  This echoes Rick's return from insanity.  He is now being a father and staying behind with his family instead of always taking the lead.

They reach her camp.  She is talking to someone but we don't see who.  She tries to attack Rick with a machete.  She says that Eddie needs to eat something that's alive.  She kept him even though it is wrong.  She wants to be like him.  She stabs herself in the abdomen.  Rick is unable to stop her.  She wants to turn into a zombie.  She asks what were his three questions.
1) How many walkers have you killed? Eddie killed all of them until . . .
2) How many people have you killed?  Only herself.
3) Why? You don't get to come back from this.
She dies.  Rick just leaves.  Eddie (or whatever is left of him, according to the Talking Dead it was just a head) moves under a canvas.  I'm surprised Rick didn't kill her.  She will wake up as a zombie and be a threat.

Carol is reading a book to some children.  Carl sneaks in.  When the other adult in the room leaves Carol stops reading and starts teaching the children about knives.  Patrick is feeling queasy so he leaves.  Carl stands up and Carol stops talking.  She asks Carl not to tell his father about the knife skills lesson.  Rick is back.  He stares at the zombie with bleeding eyes.  An omen of things to come?  Rick notices that Violet the pig is no longer moving.  It looks like she might be turning into a zombie.  Inside the prison Tyrees'es girl is sewing.  He tells her he doesn't like going on runs either.

Maggie tells Glenn that she is not pregnant.  They are both relieved.  She said she didn't want to have a baby but they could have.  Glenn says that after what happened to Lori he doesn't want to have any children.  Maggie doesn't want to be afraid of being alive.  Glenn responds that fear is what has kept them alive.  No, she says, that is how they kept breathing.  Daryl tells Beth about her boyfriend Zack.  She asks if he is dead and just says okay.  No reaction.  She walks over to one of those boards that lists how many days have passed without an accident.  She changes the number form 30 to 0.  She asks if Daryl is okay and he says he is tired of losing people.  She hugs Daryl and tells him she hates goodbyes and is glad she never said goodbye to Zack.

Hershel tries to comfort Rick.  Rick tried to help but she was too far gone.  Hershel reminds Rick that he was able came back from crazy town.  Bob is in his bunk and looks like he might cry.  Patrick is really sick.  I think he might have the zombie virus he is sweating so much that he leaves wet footprints on the floor.  He walks into the bathroom and pumps some water into a show to cool himself off .  He collapses on the floor.  He has blood coming from his eyes and nose and now he is a zombie (he looks like the zombie from the beginning of the episode that was shown twice, I knew that couldn't be a coincidence).  I would hate to be sleeping in that cell block.

Final Thoughts
- It looks like Rick and Carl have been working on their relationship.
- I think Patrick's illness could be a mutation of the original zombie virus.  Viruses mutate and all of the survivors are carriers of the disease.  Did Violet have the new virus?  Was she the cause?
- Why did nobody shoot Zach in the head as they left the store?  I thought the general rule was to save those you know from becoming zombies.  Not to mention the horrible death of being eaten alive by zombies.
- Why would Rick be against teaching children to protect themselves in the zombiepocalypse?  I know Carl went over to the dark side for a bit but he had to kill his mom and his dad went crazy.   If the children are to survive they need to know how to fight.  To do those things needed to survive to quote from lady Rick found in the woods.
- Is Beth finally going to get a personality and have something to do besides singing?
- There should be spin-off of the show where Daryl is an undercover cop.  I would totally watch that.
- Will this be the season when Daryl and Carol finally become a couple?
